mealies should be gut loaded with fresh veggies, not processed grains. Cheap and easy are carrots, and they tend to keep longer than most other veggies.

Mouse and Bird feed are not ment for mealie worms.
butt you can use corn meal or wheat bran or wheat meal ( not sure but i belive you can use chicken feed too ) for your mealie worms.
but this is just there eating substrate you keep them in ,
as gecko girl said veggies are there water sorce and they love them ..
carrots are great and cheap but you can use potatos and other veggies too .

hope this helps

Chicken laying mash, available at any feedstore, is hands down the best thing on which to keep mealworms. This stuff costs $5-10 for a 50lb bag and will put much necessary calcium and other nutriment into your feeders.

Carrots are your best bet for a water source, for unlike many other veggies and potatoes, they don't tend to mold.

Great reply. I agree with chicken lay mash as being the best. I use this for crickets but keep my mealworms on egg crate. I then feed both crickets and mealworms carrots and potatos as a water source.
