am i in the twilight zone?

jeune18 Dec 04, 2007 08:24 AM

ok so midge was on hibernation mode up until a week ago. she started being up more and running around. last saturday she turned orange. she was sick the first part of this year so she never turned orange at all until december 1, which if i remember correctly is way past the START of breeding season.

so this morning i wake up and i hear some activity going on in the cage and i look over at it and walter roswell is mating with midge. now that in itself may not be weird but walter roswell is a little over three MONTHS old (val what did you put in his bugs?) i don't think there is going to be viable offspring from this but i thought it took a year for their little hormones to kick in. it was just amazing, he is like half her size.

is this normal?

So the little guy is getting some action already, huh? He must take after his daddy. Hoboken is one head-bobbing macho dude. He checks out the ladies every day without fail. Since 3 of my 4 girls have never become gravid, he gets turned down a lot, but it never stops his daily rounds. He even bobs his head at crickets before he pounces and eats them. No twitching the tail like a cat for him!!
Otherwise, I'd have to guess that OldCrota is to blame. Perhaps he spiked lil Walter's food with something. It certainly wasn't me!!!!
Seriously, I am glad he is fitting in with your girls. And sounds like he is having a good time too! I'd love to see photos whenever you have a chance.
