accidently pinched end of baby leos tail

jat129 Dec 04, 2007 03:38 PM

you know that fake rock hide? the one with the magnets to keep the outside end on? well ive been using it for a couple years now with my leo and its been fine, even with my worries of pinching its toes or tail tip when closing it. well, i got a baby leo yesterday, and somehow when closing it the litle guy made a rapid movement and its tail tip got caught when i was closing it. He was freaking out at first and I felt TERRIBLE. When I look at the tip now I teven lookes a little bent at the tip. Has anything like this happened to any of you? Did the tail end up being ok? I really want to find a different hide as i never want that to happen again

I haven't had that type of thing happen before, but I would expect, absolute worst possible case scenario, the little guy *might* drop the tip section of its tail. Given that this hasn't happened yet, s/he may just wind up with a bent tip on his/her tail. Either way, it's certainly not life-threatening, so I guess put this one in the "learning experience" column and try to forgive yourself; even if the tail does end up with a bent tip, long term, at least, your gecko shouldn't suffer from it. (Obviously I'm sure it hurt when it happened, but s/he should heal up just fine.)
