White Oaks

I have 1.2 White Oak Gray Rats. To me they are gorgeous snakes and under-rated. I think the main reason is that the babies don't sell for very much money. I don't care though, I thoroughly enjoy them for their beauty and temperament. Here are some pics of my little group.

This is my 06 female Daisy. She gets lighter with every shed. She is also super tame. She sometimes goes into my classroom, and all the kids love her. I got her from the Eastern KY show from a fellow who said his adults were Dwight Good stock:

This is the 07 male Calvin I got to be her boyfriend. He came from Sunshine Serpents, his mom was Dwight Good stock, and his dad was WC. He eats like a pig and is growing fast. He has already gotten lighter. He has a cool little personality and is already tame to handle:

And finally, an unplanned addition. My 07 female Ellie I picked up at the Columbus Ohio show. She is F1 from WC stock. The vendor's mother lives in Pensacola. They were moving some pool cushions and found the adults right in the middle of mating. They collected them and have had those adults for 11 years now. I love the cool little "lightning bolts" on either side of her head. I couldn't pass her up:

Daisy is beautiful! I agree, I love the grey rats. It seemed like a lot of people posted about them a few years ago, but don't see much of them anymore. I have a male that I use as a garbage disposal. I always feed him last because he gets the leftovers if others don't eat. He is very "touchy" if you know what I mean. Never has struck, but he is always on alert. Thanks for the pics!

To all the posters, Great photos, and great looking snakes. I will be breeding Gray Rats myself this spring. While I would not claim that mine were "White Oaks" I still think that Grays are under rated American Rats. On the other hand, I have never see a wild type American Rat that I did not think was wonderful to see. All of them are great. You can't beat natures cooking.
