thanks for breaking my comp but it isnt mine im on a friends so i dont care lol anywhos great pics love em all im cheerin for you for future breedings invoving the TH moonglow

rainbowsrus Dec 05, 2007 10:04 PM

np, anytime you need a computer fried, just let me know!!!

Yeah, the TH is one of my hopefull but not really expecting anything breedings this year, she's right on the edge, add to that he's only a year and a half so iffy as well. I've not had great success with younger males so far, last year none of my female boas took, all were bred by 1.5 year old males...

Of course, I am breeding the motley boys and seeing lots of activity so, that success rate may very well change for me this season, at least that's what I'm hoping for!!!!

well some learn faster than others lol i wish 3 years would pass super fast so i can breed my albino poss jungle to my hypo arabesque poss albino if both the poss turn out to be a true omg can we say diverse litter care to take a whack at the percentages on that one lol i know what i should get but not how many of each for a "average"

rainbowsrus Dec 06, 2007 04:20 PM

Actually a very easy cross, assuming both prove, you have a total of four traits involved....

Jungle - codominant het x normal - 1/2 jungle, 1/2 normal
hypo - dominant het x normal - 1/2 hypo, 1/2 normal
Arabesque - dominant het x normal - 1/2 arabesque, 1/2 normal
Albino - recessive homozygous x het - 1/2 albino, 1/2 normal

Each of the four traits is a 50/50 outcome so EVERY possible combination would be 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 or 1/16

Each of the four traits have two phenotypes so possible phenotypes = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16

jungle hypo arabesque albino
jungle hypo arabesque het albino
jungle hypo albino
jungle hypo het albino
jungle arabesque albino
jungle arabesque het albino
jungle albino
jungle het albino
hypo arabesque albino
hypo arabesque het albino
hypo albino
hypo het albino
arabesque albino
arabesque het albino
albino
normal het albino

Was that quick enough?

this is why i love having you around besides the fact i ruin countless keyboards drooling on them looking at your pics lol one day ill be able to figure everythign out i need to do more reading and learning on the whole ordeal i barely know anythign but the lil i do know ppl look at me nod and go uh huh i dont knwo what the hell you jsut said lol never cared about genetics till this year it was always i liked the snake didnt care how it got to be the color and pattern it was but i wanted it lol well besides resecive i know how they work for some time but once mixing that and co dom and multi morphs i got a lil confused lol

rainbowsrus Dec 06, 2007 04:43 PM

So many people get hung up on the multi morph thing, it's actually quite easy once you break it down into the individual morphs. Starting with a simple one that is beat to death so most know it fairly well - snow. A combination of two recessive morphs, albino and anery. The most complicated pairing I can think of would be a doublke het to a homozygous/het (does not matter if it albino het snow or anery het snow, same complexity)

so DH snow x albino het anery. still two traits

Albino - recessive - homozygous x heterozygous = 1/2 homozygous, 1/2 heterozygous

Anery - recessive - het x het = 1/4 homozygous, 3/4 66% het

total number of phenotypes = quantity of each individual trait phenotypes multiplied out = 2 x 2 = 4

Albino anery (snow) = 1/2 x 1/4 = 1/8
Albino pos het anery = 1/2 x 3/4 = 3/8
het albino anery = 1/2 x 1/4 = 1/8
het albino pos het anery = 1/2 x 3/4 = 3/8

Same two traits but both parents DH's

Albino - recessive - het x het = 1/4 homozygous, 3/4 66% het

Anery - recessive - het x het = 1/4 homozygous, 3/4 66% het

total number of phenotypes = quantity of each individual trait phenotypes multiplied out = 2 x 2 = 4 (same as before)

Albino anery (snow) = 1/4 x 1/4 = 1/16
Albino pos het anery = 1/4 x 3/4 = 3/16
Pos het albino anery = 3/4 x 1/4 = 1/16
pos het albino pos het anery = 3/4 x 3/4 = 9/16

too many pics to comment on but I like Lurch (I like the dark ones and blacked out elipse crescents is cool to go with it), the 25% snow breeding and I hope the boa gods are good to you on that one and everytime I see a pearl I just want to cry. Are you planning to mate one with a normal or do you already know the genetics background from Tom D.? They have to be your best acquisition in the brb department I believe.
Bob

rainbowsrus Dec 05, 2007 03:59 PM

Yeah, It still takes my breath away every time I pull their drawers. It's like they are an entirely different ssp, they look so different. Plan, as of now, is to breed two trios and use the other two for outcrossing into hypo and anery.

not the same type of problem...I do have an albino male Burmese Python that spurs the paper and shreds it like he's a rodent instead of spurring the female lol...

I also had a male northern pine that took several years to breed because he got so excited he ejaculated on the females back...and on top of it prematurely lol
