OK Dave here's the last syspila

Jeff Hardwick Dec 05, 2007 08:22 PM

The hatchling is the same snake in the 2 top photos and there's Mom and Dad in the round thingy. Mom and Dad are siblings BTW and descended from the original hypo Dave Blody line - the same line that produced the great white syspila I'd posted last week sometime (the one that made gratefuldead fall out of his chair).
Variability is the word we have to use when discussing syspila. Though the sibs may resemble eachother in a given clutch, the next clutch is a batch of completely different syspila. Same parents, temp, etc...but they're far more variable than any other non-morph/normal milk I've known.
Dell needs to post the brown version he has that is also descended from this line...a monster hopper mouse gobbling syspila gorilla that we could not get to breed last season.
So there ya go, brief history lesson on the hypo syspila scene today and all my super syspila projects have been posted in the last few weeks......enjoy, I sure do!

Great syspila, Jeff! Those things have incredible color to them. I can't believe how different they look from the other Blody line animals. Pa syspila looks fairly typical (= NICE) for that line, and Ma's not bad, either!

Those two adult sibs are as different as night and day!
Male has typical slightly keeled scales and is anorexic, female is very shiny, completely smooth scales and real deep red saddles with a solid black borders and an orange wash between the saddles. She's fat, easy going, and feeds furiously for 6 months every year but the male might feed for 3 months.
The kids are cute tho.....

Nice ffeJ,
Your right, that male is on the thin side. The female looks like a porker compared to him.

Gotta say your Syspila collection is inspiring. Keep pumping them out.

Here is the Syspila Gorilla you spoke of, (she was just posted last week). She carries a duller terracotta in her saddles w/ a creamie white background that has some orange flecks peppered in the white. She is het. for hypo.

Here is an 05 hypo from her that I haven't posted before. She was a complete pain in the ass to take photos of. But she eats great.

Here is one of the 07 hypos I spoke of a few weeks ago.

Sure enjoyed all the Syspila photos from everyone, thanks.

WOW. That hatchling is sweet. I love the red/white contrast on that one. Thanks for posting. You have an awesome syspila collection.

It truly is amazing how variable they are. Is there any way to tell if a hatchling will stay white between the blotches or turn yellowish as an adult or do you have to judge by looking at the parents?

One thing I've learned from this syspilathon is that I need to add some to my collection!

Thanx for the compliment Dave (and every one else)! Syspila are unique in the world of triangulum and will always be a personal fav.
What will the hatchlings evolve into? Good question and looking at the parents is a pretty good indication but not always - really boring adults chug out blazing offspring and vice versa. I've used Kathy Love's method of very close examination with strong light and a low power magnification for spotting tipping on hatchlings....it's there but not always obvious and trust me you'll know what's blazing and what's nice with some experience.

Thanks Jeff. I guess I'll have to rely on you to pick me out a blazing pair next year! Thanks for posting all the cool pics.
