Sanderson Blair's in situ

Aaron Dec 06, 2007 11:26 AM

Found crawling on the cut near the bottom. This is the night we got kicked out of the Heucos by the constable, who told us that everything that wasn't paved was private property and that pedestrians with flashlights are illegal. He was full of it but we obeyed him anyways and headed towards Del Rio. We started running into rain around Van Horn. By the time we got to Alpine the weather was furious and we outran it(or hit a clearing) just at Sanderson. First we found a lep on a cut, then about 20 minutes later found this Blair's. After catching it me and Shannon continued with walking the cut but within less than 5 minutes we were getting drenched by the terrible storm. I think everywhere from Alpine to Del Rio just got hammered by the storm that night.

He did the same thing to me, but I laughed at him and kept hunting at the time... Never saw him again.

Did you get his name at the time?

I wrote his name down and I also took notes on his statement right in front of him. He didn't like that. I'm not sure if I still have the notes but I believe he is the only constable for Hudspeth county. At any rate I have since heard from others that he is all bluff. I just wonder why he is so protective of the area at night?

lbenton Dec 07, 2007 07:09 AM

It will not make much diff in the end, I had a lawyer call up the sheriffs office the next day to let him know that these kind of threats were not going to be tolerated.... He lied and said that we never met.

The think to do will be to record his load of BS and then have him deny it.

But I would like to have a note of each incident this lying sack of ______ has done so far.

Cool photos, both you and Shannon. I love seeing in-the-wild shots. I could do without any more DORs, though. It seems that most alterna and mexs that I have found DOR were all VERY nice ones! --HW

Aaron Dec 06, 2007 07:18 PM

This was the first DOR alterna either one of us has found. It sucked big time but the effect was somewhat offset by the fact that we had already gotten the nice Blair's.
There were also like 8 to 10 other herper vehicles out there that night so in a way it shows they must be getting across the road unseen even when it's crowded.

archaeo1 Dec 06, 2007 09:50 PM

....or a herper was not watching where he was going....

Aaron Dec 06, 2007 11:00 PM

I thought of that and it's certainly possible but this was Hwy. 90 east of Sanderson, there was a literally dozens of semis passing through. Still one has to wonder.
