What could be in here....

herpz Dec 06, 2007 01:13 PM

Well I remebered that on the side of my house I happen to have this pile. It's been sitting there for about 2 years undisturbed. Posted it here because I know you all are active and I'M GETTING MY FIRST CORN IN A COUPLE DAYS! WOOT.

That is all

Oh yea, How can I go about attacking this pile...Think I might find any snakes or anything? Should I wait till I get a snake hook this weekend or you think I can try at it now... It's been 40 degree nights and its gotten into the 70s and 60s lately the past week or two.

My goal is to catch something alive in there ^ and release it. Perhaps keep, depending on what I may find.

First things first, Wild caught is never really advised so releasing it would be ideal, Now I don't know where you are located but my first impression is more than likely nothing. I find snakes don't generally hang out where we do so home is the #1 place not to look however I noticed you had a hose there. My entire property "About an acer" is purposely landscaped to cater to any of the native reptiles that may want to reside here. I have a wooden walkway to my garden hose, The walkway ends at the wall where the hose spicket is, The spicket leaks when the hose is on and the wood and grown under it get very wet every day. Year round I find many frogs and very large toads in this area. mainly in the summer time in the morning its not uncommon to find a garter snake basking on the wood walkway but runs as soon as you round the corner and gets comfy under the wood in the nice moist dirt "More than likely feeding off the frogs. I loosened up a portion of the wood so when this happens I can lift it and grab the Garters to show my kids but always let them go in the same spot shortly there after.

That's a good question.Right here where I'm at,I'd have to guess black widow spider. Jeff

Depends on where you live.... I say there is a half decent chance of finding a midland brown or a ribbon snake. Not much else.

Some pissed-off ants would be a strong possibility! And like Jeff stated, a dormant Black Widow or two.

Heck, nowadays you might even find an albino Burmese Python that got set loose, or got away from some idiot in the neighborhood!, but I doubt it would be thrilled about those cold temps.

Just funnin' around!
