Why not spend about $1200 on a male Fire and female Pastel, and save $9K.

What is so hard to believe? $200 for a female pastel and $1k for a fire male. Do you really think you can't get a fire for $1k?

Actually the cheapest I've seen was $1250 for a hatchling-size (80 gm) female. And that one seems to have been snapped up almost instantly! My pair set me back a lot more last Summer (and at the time I considered it a bargain). Never seen a male listed for less than 2K-so you're saying they can be had for half price?

It would seem a moot point-no FIRES listed in the classifieds at the moment (excepting a FIRE pastel- for 5K!).

Well, you could get a hatchling fire and a hatchling pastel for a lot less than a firefly... but then you get to wait three years before you could even possibly produce one. By then the price of the "Firefly" will more than likely have dropped substantially. I don't know, if it were me I would much rather be ahead of the game and making money while the going is good.

You probably can find a baby fire for a grand from someone but I know someone with one for sale that is nearly 500 grams and I'm sure he wouldn't take a grand for it. Size does matter when it comes to balls, lol.
