Biting Problems

Help! My gecko male 98 grams and 7 months is biting my female 60 grams. He bit her and held on but I don't think he was trying to hurt her. Is this agression or breeding?

Well, given that he's 60% larger than her, it could easily be either. Presuming it's breeding, are you prepared for babies, etc? Why do you have two geckos of such different size in one enclosure anyway?

I have them housed together because I bought them from www.leopardgecko.com at a reptile expo. the male was $75 and they threw the female in for free. the people there said they would do fine together. also, a few nights ago the male fell of it (not far down at all) and did his tail vibrating twice near her so thats telling her he's the boss?

just breeding is my bet. The male will alot of times actually grab the female by the head or scruff of the neck. Sounds like a nice big male and he's doing his job. That female at 60g is plenty big enouph. Most wild females never see 50 grams.

You are fine relax, classic breeding behavior don't worry about size as the other response says she is plenty big enough. just keep an eye on em make sure it doesn't get out of hand.

My concern was not that the female was undersized for breeding, but rather that the male is so much larger than her that there could easily be dominance/bullying issues.
