Dividers for Sterlite.

tmshaffer Dec 07, 2007 06:53 PM

I was wondering if anyone has tried to make a divider for the 1756 vision rack. I would lile to give the snakes a little more length and switch them from 15 qt to the sweater bo style and maybe divide the box in half length wise. I knwo reptile basics makes something similar for the sewater box 1ris tubes. But was thinking it might not work for the sterlite containers.

Using expanded PVC (like Sintra), you can cut a piece to fit, then use silicon to hold it down (just a few dabs in a few places).

I did this to one box back when I used sweaterbox racks. I thought it was a great idea. Then one day I slid out the box, and one snake went one way and the other snake went another way. That is when I realized that disturbing or dealing with two snakes when pulling out one box has its considerations. For sandboas, no problem, but for more squirrely species, consider the potential difficulty.

This would be for hognose. I might have to deal with musking. But they put on a better show than a running thing.

Probably be alright then.

I agree that the hobby lacks boxes that are long but not wide. Well, Freedom Breeder makes long and narrow boxes, with the cost factor in there of course (fantastic racks but not all herpers want to pay.)

I love the vision 15qt rack for the ability to use more than one box. I just turned it around and it now houses some sweater boxes and also some of the 15qt. I just thought that if I could make or buy dividers. I would rather give them more length.
