I still cant find him

cianke Dec 08, 2007 08:17 AM

My okeetee has been missing since Wed and I dont have a clue where he is. My only guess is that he got into my storage room which would take a month to go thru. And besides it is cold in htere so if he did he will probably be hiding all winter. I dont think he got out cause I havnt found anywhere where he could yet. I have also basicaly lined my whole house with painters tape and no luck so far. I am kind of hoping that maybe he found a meal and is just digesting it and will come out looking for more soon. How long should I leave the tape out? its been 3 days is it pretty much hopeless that he will get caught in it? I really want him back. He was an amazing snake.

Snakes can stay still a long time. Leave the tape in place for another few days and keep checking.

If you have not already done so, consider sprinkling flour or salt on the floor next to the wall. Best done in locations near doorways. It won't catch your snake, but may help you concentrate your search, once you have determined what part of the house the snake is holed up. If you have dogs or cats, "GOOD LUCK" keeping them out of the flour. lol.

Don, I use to work security on 3rd shift before I became a cop. I used that trick in halls, and key areas to see if supervisors were sneeking in on me. Just thought i'd mention a second use

Something that is close to the color of the floor. So they can not see it, but if you look you will see foot prints.

IT WORKS!

In todays age, I'd install wireless movement detectors lol.

I worked at a large campus and we drove our supervisors nuts. The maintaniance guy slept in a chair on top of the elevator.

Also place a penny on top of a door, this they would see, thinking they figured you out, but really you had a sliver of scotch tape on the bottom of the door. Our list was long and impressive lol

Good luck.

Oh we also left out a half eatin sandwich,, keyy is nothing that will spoil fast.

1 more idea. Snakes will need water, so clean out an old 1 gallon milk container. Add enough water so when you turn teh 1 gal container on its side it has about 1/2" of water.

Place in good locations and maybe even cover with towels. Check often.

Also a 1 gallon container is good for most adult corns. Smaller snakes, use smaller containers. big ones use bigger ones. Simple idea is to catch them seeking water.

good luck.

there's always dragging food (dead) around the skirting boards and leaving the food item in a hide, hopefully the snake follows the scent, feeds and rests until you retrieve it.

I put beer cans across the door openings and on a cement floor you can hear 3 beer cans falling from 2 floors away. That's how I caught my escaped king. He had escaped and was free for 4 months until I heard him. I didn't catch him right away, as he was gone, but I knew which room he was in. I did a flashlight search in that room and found him, in a 1" gap under the furnace near the burner. It was warm in there.
Another got out of the house and I found him nearly frozen to death in the garage well over 6 months later. He was stiff as a board and didn't move. It was below freezing outside and he was in the middle of a concrete floor.
He has a little head shake when he's excited, but other than that, he's fine now.
