Shedding while gravid?

mack1time Dec 08, 2007 12:06 PM

I posted below to no avvail. My female has been out of the blue for 5 days now. Her kin is litterally falling off of her. Everytime I look in the tank she is being bred by the male still.

Should I give her a good soak to help shed the skin?

Should I help her shed manually?

Should I just wait it out?

I'd say mist a bit more, but otherwise leave them alone, you don't want to "mess up the mood" if the male is still showing interest.

Later, when he stops showing interest, you can probably help her shed as long as you don't handle her too much doing so.

My suri female did the same thing. She's normally an excellent shedder, all in one piece, but shed after two weeks of courting a week or so ago, and it was a bad shed with some pieces still stuck on. But I left them together just to not jeopardize the breeding.

Damm thank you for a reply finally. I have been checking this thread to no avail.

The male did lose interest so I removed him for a meal. She is now about half shed with skin falling off of her. She is constantly coiled on the belly heat so I am just gonna let her do her thing. Thank you!!
