not eating. Possible hybernation?

captotterboy Dec 09, 2007 09:48 AM

Hey all,
My Cal. Kingsnake has refused her last 2 meals. It has been 2 or three weeks since her last meal and 1 week since her last shed. I have been noticing she is a little more lethargic than normal. The temperature has gone down a few degrees since winter really started here. Could this be a partial hybernation? any tricks to restart her metabolism?

Thanks alot,
Jeff

Yup- sounds like it.

All of my kings have slowed WAY down.

What's working for me is offering smaller than normal meals, and less often right now.

You could also try raising the ambient temp, but I'd just roll with it- it's what they do naturally.
