river rd locality question

jamesalternafan Dec 09, 2007 04:15 PM

Can anyone help me pinpoint this location where my snake is from? I was told it hatched from a gravid female collected west of the big hill before the mud flats. I was just curious. Also do buyers expect me to know exact locations for dam and sire? The female is one of my oldest first snakes, I know she is a river rd but dont know her exact bloodline and can not track it down as I bought her years ago from a reputable dealer.

James,
Sounds like its from the Panther canyon area of River Road. Lots of people, excluding me have found alterna there. River Road has many areas where multiple alterna have been collected. The most famous are Big Hill, Panther canyon, mud flats, Colorado put-in and Wind-mill. Also Peppers Hill and Lajitas are River Road localities as well but very few have come from Peppers. Hope this helps a little. Best way to learn them is to make a pilgimage to west Texas and see them in person. Then it will all make sense. Good luck. BA
