Burmese Burrowing?

dlaxplayer4691 Dec 09, 2007 04:27 PM

I have a nice little 3 foot baby burm. Theres nothing wrong with him/her but i have it on newspaper bedding. I find the snake inbetween the layers of the newspaper all the time. Is this because there is no hide spot or is it not warm enough??

P.S. i havent put the hide spot in the cage for the last week because i was cleaning it and then forgot to. At this point i was just curious if that was the reason.

It's looking for a place to hide, seeking security.

When my air conditioning malfunctioned last summer (before I had thermostats on my cages), I found my snakes hiding under the newspaper etc. trying to escape the heat. I don't know why piling something on top of themselves would help cool them off, but it's what they did. What are your cage temperatures, and do you have a thermostat on the cage?

Umm the hot is around 85-88 and the warm is about 75.. I keep a 100 watt lightbulb on him usually 24/7. That keeps it warm, but since hes been under the newspaper, recently i have just been putting on the heat mat
