Finished Our Herp Room!

reptilicus81 Dec 10, 2007 08:31 PM

I posted awhile back about a garage conversion....well my boyfriend was able to create an ~8 x 10 room in our garage. We just finished it last night, so the pics are still a bit sloppy! I added a light fixture to the ceiling so that the balls don't have a lamp lighting up their rack haha! Right now, we are waiting on a few more outlets to be added! I also put in a humidifier, which the boas are enjoying!

Congrats on the new room.

I hope that that tub with the dumerils is a temporary thing...

Haha! Yes, very much temporary! She recently had an abscess removed from her head, and while it heals she is being confined. She doesn't seem to understand that rubbing her head on her cage walls is not making the wound any better! It is also very easy to medicate her in a hospital cage rather than a 4 x 2!

What kind of racks are those in the middle pic with the balls in them?

Animal Plastics Economy racks.

Here's a white version of the baby rack:

I remember your post. Thanks for following up and good work.

Currently keeping a small collection of various Gonyosoma. Both G. janseni and G. oxycephala.

Thanks!

I love the AP economy racks...the only problem I have is with the hatchling rack. Neonate sand boas are just small enough to escape on the side bins where the heat rope "climbs" up the side! We lost 4 of our 15 babies the first night, but we found all but one! I still hold out hope, but man those suckers are small enough to hide anywhere!

It is nice having a room set up with out carpet, and that can be completely dedicated to the animals. We used to have them in a spare bedroom, but when you have a two bedroom house, it kind of stinks to have one room unusable for guests!

Again, congrats on the new room. It must be really nice for you to have it done now. Now you have more room in the spare bedroom for more snakes!!

In that last picture, in the bottom left corner, there is a power strip on the floor right under the water spigot. I hope that you have already moved it. I'd hate to hear that there was an accident.

Hope it all works out just the way you planned it.
