Most people take time off during the dark of the moon in May or June. But you can really hunt them all spring and summer with good results depending on the local weather pattern and elevation you are at.

It is hard to ask for time off in advance for the weather though, so dark of the moon is the one to plan in advance with.

I would have to agree with everyones comments so far. I think they've been found almost every month of the year. However, the optimum time of year seems to be May-July depending on Moon, temp and rainfall.
