Light Phase Children's Pythons

DavidKendrick Dec 11, 2007 10:27 AM

Curious for all you Children's Python keepers and breeders, I recently have started getting interested in Antaresia Complex, and was curious...

After looking at many pictures and surfing around...I see many clutches of Children's that produce these Lighter almost "Hypo" (for lack of better words) offpsring produced right along side Normal Darker babies...

I have seen some breeders label them as "Light Phase"..."Blonde"...."Cinnamon"...but others don't, and sell them for the same price as the normal darker siblings, just curious if anyone has tried selective breeding these light phase children's...is it a type of morph? many say its more random than anything, and that some have been produced from dark parents....I am just curious about them...

Its pretty "in your face" when you see pics of siblings together which ones I am talking about...and there always seems to be at least a few that hatch out that way...

i just received a pair of childreni today. on the breeders website he had pics of all available babies. two of those were the light phase. unfortunately, someone snagged them before i could. he explained to me what you stated in your post, that dark phase adults will produce light phase babies. i think it is a random occurance. just like you said, the light and dark phase were offered at the same price. anyone with more experience please comment.

I am getting mine in today as well, I just bought a female that was light phase, the male I really liked sold, so I picked up a Cape York Female instead of the male Childrens, Make sure to post pics of yours...

Mine shoud be here any minute...I have also heard of two light phase adults producing the same results, so it seems it doesn't really matter what the parents look like that there is always the possiblity of producing these "Hypo" Childreni....along with darker more normal ones...

I will post pics of mine tonight...

Well, I have been debating on trying a few new things, and finally found a Children's Python I really liked, and it just so happened they also had Cape York Spotted Pythons too....So Amanda bought me a female of each for christmas.....I am looking forward to adding a few more already...Fiesty little earthworms...lol:rolleyes:

I really dig these ultra light Children's Pythons....

And the Cape York Spotted- Lemke Line
