Different food for baby

mullinsn2000 Dec 11, 2007 11:24 AM

Are there any different insects to feed a baby beardie (maybe 6 inches including tail)? I feed crickets, occasional mealworm, occasional wax worm also feed greens and veggies. Are there any small roaches? I am going to try butterworms for a treat and give phoenix worms a try. Has anyone tried the rusty reds from bugpros.com? Thought about trying those. I will continue to feed crickets, just looking for something else to be a staple food also.

bugpros.com is a bug exterminating site?

Mine liked phoenix worms immediately and even the large ones are not two big for this size as well as having a soft body.

Personally, I'd wait and just feed crickets for now. Your only going to take the risk of making a picky eater. I never feed waxworms (too fatty) or mealworms (hard shell, inpaction risk, low nutrition) to any of my dragons of any age anyway. I have Blaptica Dubia, not have the roach you mentioned, but never feed them to babies either. Just too much shell for a small digestive system. If you really want an alternate then try sm/med silkworms.
