My new URO fooled me!

Flavia Guimaraes Aug 25, 2003 07:37 AM

When i saw my Mali URO in the petshop he had a round belly and i thought he was healthy. Then i bought him and brought him home.Next day i discovered his belly was not round but bloated! My rascal new URO bloated his belly to pretend he was large and strong to discourage the predators.(By the way, my Beardie does that too, each time i put him in the bath tub!lol!) Now that he realized im not a predator he is showing himself how he really is!Guys he is SKINNY! Nothing but an empty shell! And he is not eating! Im really worried and i think i should force feed him, what do you think?

IM just getting over two sick uros anyhow

You need to first go to the best reptile vet in your area not some dog vet turning his shoulder to the computer every time you look away, and he will give u medicine for what is wrong with him you need to hit it in the bud fast even if its just he needs to aclimate to your setup it dosnt matter its good just to get a checkup and a fecal to make sure hes healthy If he is sick aka parasites w/e it may be thats causing him not to eat make a mixture of baby foods i made a micx of every vegtible baby food i could find minus spinach and all the bad stuff, i got carrots squach greens peas etc. Then i put vitamin and calcium into it. I used a needles syringe and would pump 4 times about half of a syringe full of this mix into his mouth it seemed to purk him up while he was going through the treatment. also soak him daly to kee him hydrated and or/ use pedialite you can get form eckerd or w/e.

Hope I helped
Sean

P.S. Spike and Mike are doing somuch better spike is moving on hisown now and is starting to real eat a ton again the treatment ends tmmrw. Then i get a sample fomr the vet iin one month.

After i read your message i tried to give him some food but it was impossible to open his mouth!Wow! My guy has strong jaws!

By the way, there is NO reptile vet where i live (Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia)!

Ok two things bring hi to normal vet then he should eb able to do fecal hopefully and if he can get the meds the key is i just use the syringe i get a lil hand towel rap him in it and i put the corner of the syringe on the front part of his teeth and you got to rock it up adn down sometimes it takes a while anyhow just keep going at it your going to have to hold his head firmly it takes a lil practice but it will eventually open
