Anyone who uses hammocks for their beardies.....

Amk2109 Aug 25, 2003 08:13 AM

Does anyone have any better luck or can tell me a good brand. I have a somewhat large beardie and we bought a hammock that supposedly was supposed to be able to handle an iguana but the rubber cups are always coming undone and then I find my beardie hanging on for dear life or she has fallen to the bottom of the cage. We have now suspended it using fishing line so that if a cup comes undone she won't fall but then the netting on the hammock starts to tear. It is just one of those green mesh ones. I didn't know if anyone has a brand that seems to work really well for them or is this the only brand available. I made one out of jean material but then she pooped on it and well I didn't think that would be really sanitary even though I cleaned it off. Any ideas?

much better than the repti hammocks and no holes to get their toes caught in. I agree get them from herpharem.tripod!

Our girls weight up to 600 grams and they support them and last. Easy to clean as it is a soft plastic (like leather) material. I bought them after we had a dragon lose a nail in the mesh ones ... I was so upset with those mesh ones and know several other people who's dragons have lost nails or toes in mesh ones

Love the box in that cage... is it just a little hidey hole for them? I couldn't tell, is there a little doorway for them or do they just climb in and out of the top?

we use paper towels and carpet combos, when I took the picture, their carpets were in the washer. As you can see, all three are doing different things, then they change places when one climbs out on the stairstep cave another goes digging for her shift

We try to make their tanks "buzy" so they stay active when in them. I think this also has helped them get along so well together.

We leave the one end open and that is where their brumating box goes, it is stuffed with shredded paper to hide in when they are ready to sleep for the winter.

Sherbert and in her new sandbox, this is the first time she was on sand.
