Going to attempt a rescue, need some info

Sunfox Aug 25, 2003 09:22 AM

I saw this uro (I think it's a saharan) that is in terrible shape in a pet store. There is no price on it so I don't think they are going to sell it (I wasn't going to buy it anyway). I talked to the store staff and they told me to come back on Tuesday to talk to the department supervisor about giving me (for free) the uro so I can try to save it. I do have a spare setup I can use for it, I just hope it isn't dead by tomorrow.
What I need to know is how much food should I give it? I know it'll need pedialyte and baby food but in what concentrations? Should I soak it to help its hydration or will the pedialyte be enough? Is there anything else I need to know before I attempt this? Even if it dies with me taking care of it, I would hope that its last days will the most comfortable it has had in a long time.

Thanks

I bought a MALI URO without realizing how thin and weak he was. To make things worse he is not eating at all! I dont think he will survive the acclimatation period! So i started giving him 1cc seringe of NUTRICAL every day. This product is pretty strong, has lots of vitamins and i used it 2 times before with others rescues,a Bearded Dragon that was dying ( MBD) and to rehab a very thin Monkey Tail Skink too.NUTRICAL works like a charm and as it is not liquid there is no danger to go out by the nose of the animal what happens frequently when we force feed with fluids.

Good luck with your baby!

By the way, pet shops are terrible! Each time i buy a pet from the local petshops i know ill have to rehab it!
