assist feeding?

Hand feeding is not an issue (holding the insect and allowing the gecko to feed out of your hands). However, forcing the gecko to open their mouths to inject food items should be the absolute last resort. This process is so stressful on a gecko and takes training and skill to do the correct way.
An alternative certainly to this is to take the animal to a qualified vet first.
