If I were you, I'd just get 100 from rodentpro.com or someone online.

for instance: I have 9 new hatchling snakes I bought this summer and about 15 normals I hatched myself this summer. Even though I plan on getting rid of the normals ASAP, I bought 400 pinkies to get me through to decemberish.

the math I did:

9 snakes:
2-Anery A's eat 2 pinks each every 3-5 days
2-Miami's eat 1 pink every 3-5 days
1-Motley normal (het crimson) eats 2 pinks 3-5 days
1-Striped normal eats 2 pinks 3-5 days

1-non eating motley normal

lets say they get fed twice a week. Thats 14 pinks per week, 56 pinkies per month and about 200 pinkies in 4 months.

BUT I also am trying to get my normals to eat normally so they can be sold

My Normal Hatchlings = 14, only 4 or 5 of which are on f/t, the rest either don't eat or eat only live (or DAMN ANOLES *grunt at June hatchling*)

Just do the math and remember, many small meals are usually better than single massive meals. They're typically easier to digest and provide more sustenance for the snake. Don't worry about buying too many, the great things about snakes is they'll eat smaller stuff too. EXAMPLE: My adult breeder gets left over uneaten live pinkies that my damn hatchlings won't eat. She's almost three years old and still loves a pinky snack.

Just feed more if you think they're too small. It never hurts at $0.17/pinky.

thanks man....yeah well this is the cheapest and cloest place to me...i live in canada...and pinkies are like $1.47 at those big pet shops! but this reptile only shop sells them at 75 cents each if i buy them in 25 lots.....anyways i will be having one corn snake only.....so i wont need a thousand and i wont get any discounts either lol....

by the way, how fast do corn snakes grow? i notice that no where really mentions about their growing habits....

where else iguanas they say that they grow REALLY FASt.....just wondering about corn snakes =)

VERY QUICKLY

Take pictures because in 6mos to a year they'll be huge if you feed them really really well.

I have a ravenous hatchling (my female-suspected male) anery A eats like a monster and according to my excel sheet she is shedding about every 2.5 weeks. She's probably doubled her weight in the month's time I've owner her.

Try checking out www.kingsnake.ca under Rodents/feeders. There is one site there, Canadian Mouseman that sells pinkies for $.50 each for lots between 1-99

But for only one snake I think I would get the 25 pack. Especially for 75 cents a pinkie in canadian $$ (25 pack would come out to less than $14 US) Feeding one every 5 days will still last over 4 months. By that time the snake should be able to eat a fuzzy.

Thanks pinatamonkey, that was exactly what i was thiking too =)

(by the way...if i keep my pinkies in the freezer..will they like spread a disease or make the food smell?)

lol

If your that low on funds maybe buying a snake isnt a good idea for you at the moment. How would you pay for vet bills if it got sick?Just some things to ponder....Paul.

I'm always trying to save cash, too. Just think of it like this - the less you spend on housing and feeding costs, the more you have to spend in an emergency.
