Dear all:

I did a search and found good info. More than a few folks (including Reptileking, MarkS and others) say that 28 qt. is enough for even adult (non-gravid) females

Quote follows:
>>------
I quote Reptileking: "We use 3 different sizes of tubs to house our balls.. babies are raised up in rbbermaid sweaterboxes #2220(same as used in the boaphile systems). yrlings(500-600g range) are upgraded to the rubbermaid 28qt tubs which work great.. from there they go into the sterilite tubs(34x16x6).. the 28qt tubs can easily house adult snakes but if ur looking to breed, they need more room to properly thermoregulate and the 28qt tubs dont provide this.. weve bred smaller girls (upto 1500-1600g as well as most of our breeder males) in the 28qt but rather provide the longer tubs so they have the option to cool even more."
>>------
End quote.

So if I am reading the above quote correctly, the 28 quart (23" x 16" x 6" tubs are adequate for housing adult ball pythons--if don't breed in those tubs.

I am thinking about building a rack using those 28 qt tubs. I will put the gravid females in larger bins so they can thermoregulate.

Does this sound fine? I just wanted some more input and a consensus as to whether I can house adult (non-gravid) females comfortably in 28 qt tubs. If the answer is yes, it would make my life so much easier. I love the 28 qt tubs!

Thx in advance!

I would personally go with the sterilite. I had bought the rubermaid 222 to see what it was like, and decided against it after I put a 4.5 ft female in it. Looked really tight.
