My First PIED Plus a question

littleleeper23 Dec 14, 2007 03:42 AM

Hey Yall, I would 1st like to Mention My Pied Source. Chuck Knight from the Chicago area. It has truly been a pleasure dealing with him. Not to Mention the great prices he offered on this animals. ANIMAL IS PERFECT!! A LOT better than he even led on!! Well started, robust, active, and inquisitive. This is my first pied. SO no real experience with this MORPH. JUST 15years of drooling over the PIED GENES!! Finally in my price range. 20years with BPs in general. Question????, is it typical for a pied to have a pink orange tongue. It really stands out. Much more orange than even my orange ghosts. JUST CURIOUS IS ALL!!!! NEATO!! The Pied does carry some white on both sides of his jaws as well. NOT Strong white but certainly faded. He is 40% white via the back and 100% white on the belly. The interesting part is that he lacks the "junglish" pattern on the sides, rather he looks more like a G-stripe pied. (not assuming this to be the case). I have seen MANY with the striping on the back in limited zones but this animal show PERFECT striping on large portions of the colored areas. Essentially it comes down to 60% of the snake is striped with ZERO pattern on the sides. Just orange and brown. I will post some pics when I get a chance to borrow my friends camera. For the time being I am posting Chuck's photo of MY ANIMAL. I am sure he does not mind. I paid enough for the animal that I can justify using his photo of my animal. You can see the "somewhat" unique striping. God Bless, Lee VanHyfte <

that is a very nice looking pied you got there. However, the striping is a characteristic of the pied gene. It is what seperates pieds (especially the low white ones) from really good ringers. Also the pure white belly is a trait of the pied gene as well. Hope this helps.

Nice looking little guy you've got there. Chuck and Sue are good people to deal with . I also bought a Pied male from Chuck this season . They might be brothers. Very happy with him . Good luck and happy breeding. Claude

Hi Cats Revenge, a.k.a. ClaudeBalls, Did Chuck explain his pied production? 0.1 100%het pied (peter kahl?) 1.0 $30 normal he bought from Chicago reptile house. This pair produced 1.2 pied 0.0.3 poss het pied in 2006 PLUS in 2007 he produced 2.1 pied but the other 3 eggs died during incubation. So 3.3 pied and 3 poss hets in 2 years. From a normal to het pied breeding!! TALK ABOUT LUCK!!!! Even if the male was het pied it is amazing that he produced more than 2or3 in 2 years!!!!! Plus he bred his "normal" male to a true normal female and got 5 ringers and 1 normal poss het pieds. Problem with owning a pied!!!!!!! I may not produce any ghosts or albinos for a couple of years. You know I HAVE TO MAKE DOUBLE HETS!!!! I figure next year I will breed it to my albino, my het pied, my DYNAMIC orange ghost, and pastels. *******hey thanks for verifying the TONGUE thing. I never bothered looking to hard at the pieds at shows because the price tag just said "you are just harassing the seller and the animal". Just drooled from a safe difference. Never noticed the tongue. GREAT PIC by the way. I can even see light reflecting off the tongue!!**** Well, I worked all night and gotta hit the hay!! VERY TIRED! and I have to go back for more tonight. god Bless, Lee Van Hyfte
