HELP!!! Blood Shot Eye!!!

burmeseman07 Dec 14, 2007 05:37 PM

Today when I was cleaning my male burmese pythons cage I took him out and put him in the bathroom like I always do. I was walking in and out of the bathroom cleaning his bowls and checking on him. I didnt notice him doing anything out of the ordinary. He was rubbing on the cabinet and the floor, but he is about to shed so I didnt think anythong of it. When I was done I went to go put him back in his cage and I notticed some red in his eye. Within 5 minutes it was blood shot. It is only his left eye, and the only thing I can think that he did was rub it on the grout inbetween the tiles on the floor. Has anyone ever had this happen before? What should I do? Thanks in advance,Jeremy

The pics area bit fuzzy, but if there is blood inside the eyecap you maybe should take him to the vets and have them remove it somehow. Don't know how you could do that without a syringe, and I'd be afraid to attempt that.

I agree with Quig (ginebig). If it's due to being poked or something like that the eye can fill up with blood and I believe a good vet could drain it to save the eye if it's not too badly damaged.

Keep an eye on it in the meantime to see if it swells.

If it's due to chemicals, like soap, shampoo, etc, it should clear up on it's on after being washed thoroughly.

Keep us updated.

Hang in there!

So I called my vet but they were closed. I called everyvet in the phonebook(literally) and only 4 were herp vets and nono of the herp vets were in the office. I was given the number to my vet many times and i was even told to bring him to the LSU vet. So for now I cant do anything until monday. Ill keep yall updated and thanks for the advice and hopefully eberything will work out.
