redfoot torts and mushrooms

ramonesfan Dec 14, 2007 08:26 PM

the only think that my redfoot relishes as much as animal protein (which I feed rarely) is fungi....my cherryhead loves muchrooms (from standard white mushrooms to portabella and oyster) is this okay for him...?

my understanding is that mushrooms pass right through undigested but redfoots eat them with such relish it's hard to believe they're not getting something out of them -
of course as with anything else mushrooms should constitute only part of a vigorously varied diet -
kept outside in the warmer months redfoots actively seek them out
