My new crested gecko doesn't seem to be very active at night. Most times I peak, I find him in pretty much the same position, usually hanging out like a little monkey in the ficus tree. He doesn't seem frightened, or even hiding (although he's well camoflaged). Shouldn't he be foraging around?

I've had him a week. He's 4-6 months old, and seems to be eating well. He looks healthy. We put a few crix in just to check that he was okay, and he pounced after them, but mostly stayed in the same general location (below the ficus tree) and let the crix come to him.

He may actually be foraging and then returning to the same position. We did find him clinging to the screen on top, one time. Is he perhaps feeling timid in his new surroundings, or are they pretty sedentary (and adorable) geckos? I know I'm a worrying mom, and these are still new surroundings, but want to be sure he's doing okay.

Well, there are many things to consider: personality, plant preference, new surrounds, amount of other cover, and probably a few other things I'm not thinking of.

It is perfectly normal, my girl will hang out for a while just watching one of us on the computer... but then this summer when we all slept under the air conditioner together she'd rustle her leaves all night until I'd scold her to be quiet.

Make sure she's got plenty of other coverage, leaves, leafy vines, a hide, horizontal locations, etc. As long as she's eating and pooping and running after crickets, I'm not a bit worried. She probably just thinks the tree is the best lookout point. She may end up a naturally placid crested, I've seen and held them, personally I own one with ADD, but I do know laid back crested exist. You've got no worries that I can see at the moment.

But don't hesitate to ask even the littlest of questions, we'll help, but we do like pictures of new additions.
