I bred a nice blaze phase male to a super hi red female I got from Brandon this year to produce some of the nicest goini I've ever seen. Been holding the clutch to see which 1.1 to hold back. This female got cut a few weeks ago but she just shed and now I'm not so sure!

... but I wouldn't sell it as a goini. In fact, I have seen more than a few Jacksonville locale eastern babies that are just as red.

you can sell em to me as Goini! . i still feel they are a sub species of LGG that is young (only several million years old)and still variable, and will throw Eastern looking babies still but have yet to see any Floridana influence in them as i always hear because they are from Fla.
I know red and yellow makes orange but i still dont think Goini is an intergrade of Floridana and Eastern chain.Good mornin wow 2 cups of coffee and im ramblin, well let me go be productive.L8r Chris

Hey I agree w/ ya that they are their own subsp. And I agree that they are a young one. But from what I understand about means/krysko's work, that true goini dont have bands at all. Any blotches/bands and you have an intgrade. I guess that's why the patternless are so desireable. As far as the one in the pic - I see way too many that look like that on the market now and they are often branded as easterns, florida's or goini's. Quite frankly, I have seen many more eastern kings that have some interband speckling both in east florida AND in south central Alabama (integrading w/ speckles) to try to pass off these banded specimens as goini's, which by the way were given the vernacular name "Blotched" king - not too much blotching about them

Most of the blotched kings are sorta banded even the patternless.C

Hope that one stays like that.
I am not in love with the blaze, I guess 'cause I know so litle about it. Most adults I've seen are as washed out or maybe even more so than the "normals". I'm sure after more breedings you'll get what you're after!
I assume deeper color is more beneficial to a hatchling, hiding in darker areas, and a lighter color is more beneficial to an adult cruising sand/grassy areas. Maybe the reason they all seem to change quite a bit.
