Caudo eggs!

Neal_ Dec 16, 2007 09:37 AM

I finally have some caudolineatus eggs to incubate. One of the females I had gotten from RSG was looking and acting gravid. She laid Wednesday. I dug up the trough yesterday (Sat.) afternoon. I had dug down pretty deep and was digging sideways, when a perfect little egg tumbled out of the nest chamber. It was probably for the best that I came upon them from the side or I might have ruined them all. There were three more in the nest chamber. The nest chamber was 10” deep and located on the cool side. All four eggs are being incubated. I made my best guess about which side was up on the flipped egg.

snapped a pic of the male before putting him back in the trough.

Thanks for looking.

Where did you get your breeding stock from. Ive been looking for about a year with no success. Thanks Ian

The two that produced the eggs came from RSG. The dealer he bought them from told me that they were produced by a fella in southern CA.

Congrat's, I get first dibs on any hatchlings.

Neal_ Dec 17, 2007 06:40 PM

Thanks Richard. I won’t forget you have dibs.

Looking good Neal!!!

How are the Storr's doing?

Neal_ Dec 17, 2007 06:43 PM

Thanks Daniel. The storri are doing alright. One was killed by a cagemate last month. The original trio is still alive and kickin’ and I have a few of their offspring that are adults now. How are yours doing? Any more eggs?

daniel1983 Dec 18, 2007 06:51 AM

Glad to hear they are doing ok.

With my storri.....I lost the male that I had picked up to renal gout, so the female that layed the last clutch was left without a mate. I have been trying to get her to pair up with another male since, but she doesn't seem interested....or maybe I have just been too busy...ha ha...I probably have a few clutches in her enclosure somewhere....

I hatched out the lone egg that she gave me last time but screwed up and killed the baby about a week and a half after it hatched. Lesson learned.

Those caudos are looking good and best of luck with the eggs. I can't wait to see a few more caudos around.

Renal gout eh? That sucks. That is what the vet said? How did the hatchling die?

Pairing up adult Storrs seems to be kinda tuff. Raising up several hatchlings would be a better bet. Of course that’s no sure thing either.

Howdy Stranger! Congratulations! Do you know what the temps were in the nest?

Roger

Neal_ Dec 20, 2007 08:54 AM

Howdy, thanks for the congrats. I usually check the nest temperature with a temp gun, but didn’t this time.

Well it’s about time for me to go back into hiding. lol Talk to you later Roger.

at least someone is getting it right.
Robin

Thanks Robin. I don’t know if I’m getting it right, but I must not be getting it totally wrong. A wise man once told me, “you have to want it”. Cheers
