trained turtle (discussed below) on TV

chelonian71 Dec 16, 2007 02:51 PM

He or she was on the The Today Show during the past week (I forget what day) and that very evening I saw the turtle on Inside Edition.

I admit, I must not be good at seeing "poor husbandry". I mostly had no problem with the video until I read comments from others. I get from you guys that

1) the beak is overgrown
2) the claws are overgrown

but did someone say something about staring the turtle to make him/her do tricks? And were there other features of this turtle that showed poor care for the animal?

Did you notice the luxurious accommodation?

I think that if you were able to look at images of healthy turtles, and compare them to the turtle in that video, you'd be able to see that the 'trained' turtle is in poor condition...and then remember that it can take a long time for a turtle to get to that point.
