State of confusion

My Honduran girl letting her blond come out. I think when she smacked the glass last week, it knocked something loose. HA HA HA

Happy Holidays!

Similar to your snake, so I thought I'd ask -- Got any idea what this is? Sold to me as Hog Island. Not a pure Hog Island. Do you think it's Hog Island X mainland Honduras?
A super cool snake.

Looks at least part Hog to me. Can't say for sure about the Honduran Part. Mine aren't mainland Boas.

There in lies the problem when people want to cross these Boas. Gets harder to find the good pure stuff.

Thanks for looking.

I'd say it is a Hog. I can see more Hog characteristics than anything else.

Looks more like my Corn Islands in this comparison photo.
The one labeled Intermediate.

Don't you think?

What's up with that?

Some similarities for sure John. I've seen supposed corn island Boas that look amazingly like My Honduran male too. Could just be phenotypical variation.

I've talked with some people who doubt any of the Corns are pure, but never really looked into it hard enough to make my mind up if it's actually true. (Something about the captive parents going in different directions upon landing in the US.) But who knows, the net is full of misguided info these days. LOL

Who do your Corn Islands come from? I almost got me a pair a few months back from Gus Rentfro, but other priorities happened instead. Cool looking critters though. One day I'll have to get me a pair.

I got them from Gus. I know he'll tell you emphatically and without equivocation they're pure.

No doubt Gus can support his animals, but their were Corn Isle ssp. in the USA long before he acquired his.
Sure it could be argued, but in an exclusive, self supportive context only. The collection methods of the late70's and 80's easily allow for imports from various regions with-in the entire Central American region(s) to be mixed, both in shipments as well as breeding.
Our Hondurans have been traced back to the original WC imports(some of which are still alive)no gaps,no questionable breedings etc.The examples we have in our group match every know Corn Isle phase(except hypo)ever produced in captivity.
Yes even the scale counts are spot on !
Gus retains a paper trail which clearly supports his animals, our animals aren't afforded that "support" due to their imported method which wasn't concerned about documentation LOL!!

I could go on for pages with the info I have recovered over the last 5 years about the Central American BCI ssp. in the USA.

I refuse to call my animals "Fire bellies" because that can of worms is clearly founded on an attempt from a self delusional enthusiast attempting social status elevation/masturbation.With the manipulation of outright lies supported by other noted "Big Name Breeders"(currently posted on their respective websites)just almost got away with it.Granted it took nearly 4 years for the lies to come full circle, come they did !!

enough........

See, lots of info out there that is little known, or stretched to breaking point. Gives me a head ache every time I research an animals back ground. LOL

Yep! Gus had some amazing critters last season. One in particular that I thought was just amazing, and wish I could have gotten.
Oh well, maybe next time. You got some nice looking ones there in that photo too.
