2006 female hypo from Exotics By Nature, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse so even though not looking for another hypo, had to get her and not sorry I did, she's HOT!!!

Out of curiosity Dave, do the photo's make her look like she's got more dark pigment then in person? She looks great and has more color then most of the hypo's I've seen, just also(from the pics) looks like has more black(relatively) as well.

Screaming snake either way.

Yeah, she's definitely lighter in person but when I tried to brighten it up, it just looked worse.

One thing on my someday list is an alternate darker background for photographing lighter colored snakes.

Well there's always the cheeper option of the black aquarium gravel or sand. For the best quality though, as l9ong as the snake is clean, i think the cloth you use for jewelry displays would show off the lighter colors best.

I forget what exactly the stuff is but my grandfather uses it for his display cases when he shows his work at shows or in stores. It looks pitch black and photographs like a dream normally, no reflections or visible texture, etc... Sorta like a black hole sucked up the light except for what's on it. Biggest worry I'd have using the stuff is that it isn't exactly cheep and you'd have to make sure the snakes were clean before posing or they'd turn the black background into dirt smudges floating on black. Not sure how cleanable the stuff is since when used for jewelry it really never gets dirty.

But I'm sure there are many dark options out there.

Can't go wrong with a female hypo that's for sure. Dave is there a noticable difference between the Dumbo and Dottie from Mickey and Dawn in the amount of melanin produced throughout the body especially the dorsal pattern not considering color just melanin. Here's a pic of mine without flash so that would make it darker but it is about right for that occassion but loved the reduced melanin in her mood that day

pics were taken on 9-26, her last shed was on 9-14 and her next one was 10-24 so wasn't due to a shed and it was pretty cool to see but not as cool as those pearls and those things have me obsessed with 'em

rainbowsrus Dec 17, 2007 09:45 PM

Well, Dottie, Mickey and Dawn have similar levels of melanin (dark areas) while Dumbo is clearly lighter than the other three but then again, the other three have more color overall with the youngest, Dawn, having the most tangerines!

She has to stay dark to fit her name! Hopefully she will have that striping "gene" and pass it to some of her babies.... Ozzy, perhaps?

Wendy was one of my 2005 holdbacks. The SA-PO litter holdbacks were looking so great I decided to snatch up another just for kicks, Wendy was that last minute snap up. Soister to both Amber and Phoenix, Wendy is no slouch herself. She just shed last night and OMG the whitewalls were insane!!!! And those eye popping crescents, I'm soooo glad I decided to hold back another of the Savannah babies from 2005!!!

Yeah, that is one of my favorite shots, she was looking stunning last night. I've been trying to get mopre adult pics and have a pair of large bowls with notches in the side. Let me slither iun through the notches and rotate the top bowl to close off the opening as necessary. Once in, let em sit for a few minutes, then when I pull the bowl, two things, they are in a relatively small pile and I usually have a couple of minutes before they start to move.

Yeah, was a bit of a late bloomer. That and being under the shadow of her sis and bro, got her kinda left in the corner. Now that she's out in her own cage section preparing for the upcoming nuptuals, she's looking great!!!!
