Hard to believe!

HerpLover95 Dec 16, 2007 09:07 PM

Hello,
In Feb. I measured my male okeetee on the measuring program and he was 3 ft long. I just took a pic of him and measured him and he's 46 ins. Is this amount of growth normal? I cant believe he grew that much!

I'll start with, In my opinion.

Was 3'? But how old. I've seen and heard of 3' corns at a year. Second year growth should still be good if conditions and feeding is good.

An older snake would probably not have that advantage.

OK, now Okeetee vs lookatees lol
What's a real oak? The reason I bring this issue in is oaks are probably one of the most popular morphs and for a long time. So line breeding color and pattern are well known. But wouldn't it be possible that people also selected size? I'd actually like some input okeetee/lookatee size vs avg corns. I always heard Miami's were smaller, but saw a giant a few years back that had a monster clutch.

So for me , a young oak could easily do that growing with heavy feeding and good conditions, PLUS good genetics for size.

So do Oaks run larger than average corns?

I would say creamcicles do from the small amount I have seen. Compared to the bigger breeders that see many 100's.

Sorry, been away, monster case of the flu and going thru out patient surgery for my back, just to get to a different outpatient surgery. Got to love workers comp! $3000 for the same proceedure I had 3 times already to PROVE that the better proceedure my new doctor wants will work. Like it did the last time. MORONS

Im not sure how old. I got him at the Philly Expo in Sept of '06. I can only guess as to how old he is because that breeder (not naming names) has a horrible reputation. And I can keep that going because I didnt like the way he answered Q's and treated this snake. But I was determined to get a nice looking natural morph and he was the nicest there. I have no proof if he's a real Okeetee. I've tried to email him but he never gets back. I might just call. I was guessing he was 1 1/2-2 years old when I got him but I think Im a little off. Thank you for the reply! It was very helpful.
