Shed Cycle

dbabi05 Dec 17, 2007 10:53 AM

Since getting our snake her shed cycle, beginning to end, has been right around a week. This time she stayed opaque for about that long. This is the third day her color has been back and she has yet to actually shed. Should I be concerned or can shed cycles just take longer sometimes?

Milks seem to need about 10-14 days to go from the blue-ish tint to actual shed. It's possible that the process could be accelerated or slowed by temp changes (70 vs 80 degrees)and it seems to me that the process is a bit quicker in hatchlings but I have no real data...it just seems a few days faster with very young snakes.
I'd guess that since your milk has resumed his normal color, he'll shed today or tomorrow.
Hope that helps a bit......Jeff
