Our star reptile, Belle, shed overnight last night. I only had time before work to take the shed out, clean her water bowl and peak into her hide to make sure she wasn't struggling with any leftover skin. And I just continue to be surprised by her coloring after each shed!

She was beautiful when we got her as a baby, and then some of the colors started to fade. The black, for instance. But it almost seems like the black that remains is now getting darker. I know she's not done changing, she can't be much over a year old. But I just think it's neat to watch her get bigger, and to see her colors change over time too.

It will be very cool to see a post a year from now, when you can show a few pictures that document the change in Belle. One advantage for us kingsnake fans over milks is that the hatchlings are pretty cool in their own right, but some turn into spectacular adults, where with milks, a lot of those spectacular hatchlings end up as a much darker and usually less attractive adult. No flames now, this is the kingsnake forum!

I take so many pictures of that snake I'm practically documenting her growth real time.
