What are the odds Im missing copulation?

insomthegreat Dec 18, 2007 01:01 PM

My male is 685 grams and has been placed with 5 diffrent females for three days at a time with a three day rest in between. I have seen no breeding at all. I thought I might have but now I am convinced it didnt happen. I am gone 12 hours a day between 6am and 6pm. So what does everyone think the odds are that im missing breeding if any at all.
Thank you

It's more likely that he is not interested yet. IMO if he was actually breeding you would have at least caught a few copulations. You can usually tell pretty soon after introduction if the male is interested. I usually see the males lining up their tail with the female and laying on top of her in the evening, and they are usually locked up by the next morning. Most of mine stay locked for 12-24 hours. It's still early so don't worry about it yet. Only 3 of my 7 males has started breeding for me so far. January and february were the most active months for my males last season.
