Cooling a room with a JC stat???

danycruz Dec 18, 2007 08:22 PM

Does anyone know how to use a JC stat to keep a room cool? This past summer my snake room got really hot sometimes. It got to about 90 degrees. All of my cages and racks heat turned off ofcourse since everything is on a Thermostat.

I'd like it to shut on the AC wall unit when my temps got up to 85 degrees.

IS there a way to change a JC stat to keep things under a certain temp?
Can anyone help me with this?

but you can leave the AC on energy save mode and have it start cooling at any temp you want. This is built into the AC. I may be missing something but I';m wondering why this may not be an option for you.

You can get thermostats that you can plug into the wall and than plug your ac into them and set them to cool at a certain temp. I got mine from this place

but there are several sources on the web. I have both their heat and cool unite and they work great so far.

My thermostat has a function that allows me to set a range - for instance, if I set it to 80 degrees, it will start heating at 75 degrees and start cooling at 85 degrees. Don't know if this is a function of the thermostat or the unit, but seems like it ought to be controllable by the thermostat.
