Pics of my starting group...DUW

mrredsdesigns Dec 19, 2007 01:26 AM

Here are pics of my starting group. The only morph I'm not too sure of is my Hypo Baldy. Some say it's a HB, some say it's a HCT and others have said it looks like a SHTCT. If any of you have a more accurate idea as to what she is then it would be greatly appreciated. She was sold to me as an albino female but I know she's not an albino in any way. But none the less, here are the pics of my collection. Now on a side note, the two babies with broken tails were adopted out to me from a local Petco.

I think your Tremper Albino is not a Tremper...

That's what I was begining to think after looking at dozens of pics of the 3 strains of albino. But then I purchased her as a Tremper albino. If anything I believe I can go back and exchange her. Thanks for your opinion.

OK- your hypo baldy is a super hypo baldy carrot tail
I think your adult normal may be a stripe
I concur the tremper does not look tremper
and i'm not sure cuz I can't see the eyes, but i'm not convinced the patternless is an albino
Just my 2 cents

I was also thinking the first normal, is at least a jungle, its body is striped though. As geckogrl said, Need good pic of eyes to say if its a tremper or not. However I have seen tremps like that just as often as Ive seen Rainwaters. The eyes will tell.

geckogrl6 Dec 19, 2007 08:22 PM

Technically I believe that normal would be termed aberrant- it's got a body stripe, but all normal tail banding. That being said, I have seen similar leos being sold as stripes.

I'll see what I can do about getting some close-up pics for everyone to see. As for the Tremper albino, well I bought her from the person who produced her and he's been working with leos for some time now. None the less, I'll get eye pics of my geckos.
Thanks to all of you who have responded.

P.S. I did find out that the Hypo female is in fact a SHTCT (baldy) and i've already picked out a nice male to pair up with her. I'll be picking him up this weekend.

These here are the best eye close-ups I was able to get. The first pic is of my Tremper albino female. The second pic is of my patternless Tremper albino male. Feel free to comment on them and let me know if your previous thoughts about them remain the same. Thank you again to those who have responded.

i just would like to say pretty gecko's .
but your albino could be a sunglow possibly? just a idea out there

mrredsdesigns Dec 23, 2007 03:49 AM

Thanks. I guess my only other option is to breed them and see what turns out. But here's a pic of the SHTCT male i'll be pairing up with my baldy female.

ohh hes pretty , ..
i got lucky about a month ago i was getting mealie worms from petco and a found to 2 super hypo tangerine carrot tail baldys for 15 dollars each .. im so excited about them as far there both female and are getting lovely colours of orange in there tails i should post a picture of them both . i also picked up a hypo too

mrredsdesigns Dec 23, 2007 12:28 PM

Very good finds there. Petco is known for having random assortments of baby leos at the price of normals. Now as far as i've been told. Petco gets their leopard geckos from someone who is really good about temp sexing a bunch of females. So i'm pretty sure you got yourself a couple of females there but just double check them when you get the chance.

I agree about the Petco finds. My best breeder is a fem SHCT I got from there. That being said, I also frequently see them selling paternless morphs as albinos. And their practices vary widely by store. And they still refuse to sell me any mice for my snakes- GRRRR!

Petco does have some outrageous finds there that's for sure. The one near me normally has really nice tangerines. Now i'm fairly good at telling the difference between baby patternless geckos whether they're normal or albino. Well at least with the ones here there is a drastic difference in their colours.
As for buying mice, I wouldn't buy any at Petco because I can get them for more than half the price at my local reptile shop. But I know pretty much everyone that works at the one near me so they always call me up whenever they have any feeders or reptiles that I may be interested in adopting. Now yes, they do know I adopt out the rodents and feed them to my snakes.

geckogrl6 Dec 25, 2007 11:02 AM

That's great, although I personally wouldn't feed any adoptees to my snakes. Most of the animals they offer for adoption are ones that people drop off there b/c they are sick or poorly taken care of. I have no idea what nonsense they were exposede to prior. and I hate keeping live mice in my house- so does my landlord. I just wish my snakes would hurry up and switch to f/t

Well I frequently visit my local Petco and the feeders they adopt out to me are generally well taken care of. If ever they do have any rodents that they believe are sick and have gone to the vet, or have tumors of any sort. They will NOT adopt them out to me because they know that they will be bad for my snakes. But then each Petco is different and I know that most of them do NOT know how to properly take care of their animals.
