Switching from live to frozen/thawed

ROC Dec 19, 2007 03:07 PM

I've got a ball python who's interested only in live, and another who's taken two f/t rat pups but has turned them down twice already. I'm looking for little tips on how I can get them to all start taking f/t rats. Thanks in advance.

Best method for us has been using used bedding. Make sure the f/t pup is above room temp either with a heatmat, light bulb, or if you dare microwave (on defrost, 2 seconds, in a baggie).

Then shake him around in a baggie with used rat bedding.....then using tongs try and dance him around the containter. Usually the later at night the better.

Has worked countless times for us.....just be patient and keep trying.

Sometimes the item explodes- I think it's from warming the mouse too quickly? Still, my baby ate it!
