T-stat and oil-filled radiator...

jonf Dec 19, 2007 05:26 PM

point me in the right direction. I'm gonna be using an oil-filled radiator to heat a small room and was looking to get some opinions as far as t-stats were concerned. I'd imagine the radiator has it's own t-stat built in but an extra one would be for the "just in case" aspect? or is this incorrect and an additional t-stat is a must have in a case like this? Also, lets say I hook up a ranco or something like that and I wanna keep the room around 82-84, what would be the best placement for the probe?
thanks

I bought an oil filled radiator that had a thermostat on it and it sucked. The highest setting was 80 degrees, but even on the highest setting the room would range from 72-75 degrees because it is measuring the temps adjacent to the thermostat. I bought another simpler model with an on off switch and plugged it into a ranco thermostat and it works much better. As far as were you place the probe, that depends on the surrounding temps. I have the radiator in the center of my snake room and the probe near the window since that is the cooler side of the room.
