FedEx has my BABY!

My poor new baby is Stuck at the fedex station overnight tonight. He was supposed to be delivered to me before noon today. That is him in the photo...
When I first called at 3 pm and asked what was going on, they told me he was held up due to a weather problem. When I asked where he was, the told me Richmond, only 2 hours away! There was NO weather problem.
Then I was told he missed the truck, but would be on the way, just late.
Then I called back at 6 and he was not going to make it today.
I explained it was a very valuble live snake and that I didn't want him left in a cold warehouse overnight and since they would not let me go get him *I asked* then what were they going to do about it. I was "told" he would be brought inside since they knew it was alive, but well...I just don't quite believe them. Well anyway here is hoping.
He has 2 40hour heat packs...And is supposed to be here ASAP tomarrow morning.

Anyway as I fret all night, please tell me your horror Fedex stories and hopefully their happy endings too.

What a cutie - yeah - shipping sucks during the holidays - people really shouldn't ship anything live or perishable between Dec 15th and Jan 1st. Hopefully it's not too cold in your parts. Look forward to seeing his picture tomorrow!!

I totally agree. It is very risky to ship so close to the holidays. If a package must be sent then extra insulation and extra heat packs are good for peace of mind.
Honestly since becoming certified FedEx has been very understanding over any concerns I have had over my packages in transit. The majority of my customers like FedEx but it seems some people I speak too have also frequently encountered problems with them. I guess not all areas have the same customer service.
If the snake does arrive freezing cold, I think letting it gradually adjust too room temp for a while before putting him in a nice warm enclosure may be better than throwing him in the heat immediately....you would not want to shock it. Good luck and let us know how you make out

I love FedEx, Deliveries to me come at 10:25 AM every time . I am in the final step to getting FedEx certifide. Liability waiver is in th mail . Now I will see about shipping to someone else. Best of luck Claude

Fedex tells the shipper that they will be at my house by 10:30am. I have learned the hard way, that my "stop" is not guaranteed at that hour, ever.

I tell everyone to ship to the fedex hub & I pick my snakes up there. Or, use UPS, who actually delivers to my house when they are supposed to.

And yes, Fedex still tells the shipper that my stuff is guaranteed by 10:30am, despite this being totally incorrect.

For whatever reason, some people do not get their packages on time. I usually ask people if they get FedEx deliveries and if they are normally on time. I have shipped some snakes in the middle of a corn field where FedEx needs TomTom to find. In these cases, it's best to ship to the hold facility.

You know, the customer service must really depend on where you are. I live pretty far out in the country, and packages shipped to me aren't supposed to be guaranteed by 10:30 according to the Fedex website. They always get to me by 10:00, though. I've never had a late one. UPS, on the other hand, never delivers like they're supposed to.

We have a winner! Tosha is absolutely right. Shipping this time of year is NOT a good idea. When FedEx and UPS are making residential deliveries at 11pm at night, you must know they are being slammed.

On a personal note, I have been using FedEx for years and the service has been impeccable. Your local weather may not be the issue. I don't know. Sometimes aircraft come in from other parts of the US. If those are snowed in... well...

Here's hoping for a happy ending for you!

In October I bought a male het genetic stripe. FedEx failed to deliver the package overnight on the day it was supposed to be delivered and couldn't tell me if it was in Tennessee or here in Lubbock. I had no choice but to wait until the 3rd day after he was shipped to get him. He arrived safe and sound thanks to great packaging by the seller. The night time temps were in the 40's, and that is pretty cold for a bp. I think your snake will be fine because of the heat packs.

Good Luck.
