Doug,

That's a looker...especially if you had it "years" ago. Was that in your collection before the hypo trait hit the street?

Thanks for the compliment Dave!,....and yes, that was back when Bill Love's" so-called "tangerine dream" was the only hypo type available. I remember when hypos that looked not much better/cleaner than the "dream" were going in the neighborhood of $1,800 to $2,000 dollars!.....I tell ya, things have come a long way since then, and now nobody seems to raise an eyebrow at anything less than an "ultra", or "extreme" hypo!....I could just imagine if I had some of the ones I own now...back then!

I remember being at the Daytona show and some guy was going around asking for peoples opinion on a Honduran that he just bought for $1,800 bucks. It was nothing more than a clean snake with zero tipping,.....the rings were still jet black. Personally, I would have wanted to see some lighter color for that kind of money, as there were just a few lighter examples of hypo just starting to show up on the market. That was the first year I saw what I would call a "real" hypo with slightly lighter dark rings. They were pretty darn impressive too!!!..LOL

My!!,...how times change!

take care Dave, and have a great Christmas!

~Doug

Nice, Doug! That's a great looking animal. All too often we overlook the beauty of wild-type snakes. Thanks for posting that pic!

Very nice snake Doug! I bet you wish you still had it!

I posted a while back but made the mistake of mentioning that I was "looking for" these types of snakes without the hypo gene. The post was deleted.

Here is a Tangerine Dream photo I took in Hamm, Germany, 2006

With all the new combinations of genes it seems like hondurans are loosing their original look with all the emphasis being on the genes they are carying and not so much on their looks.

I totally agree!..LOL, I've taken a lot of photos of tangerine/orange colored snakes, that turn out much redder than they actually are due to the flash.

Really nice snake Doug. Nothing beats the original look of the tangerines and tricolors. Thanks for sharing that one.

It still amazes me to see a 'normal' honduran like this without tipping. That dark red is intense! It would make an excellent albino I'm sure!
