My first GTP ! Check him out ~ pics!

kozidragons Dec 19, 2007 06:58 PM

I just got my first GTP today and I am so excited. They said he is about 10 weeks old and a Lereh. Does anyone know what these guys look like when they change??? He has already bit my husband once and bit my coat about 10 times. He is a little devil. We offered him a f/t pinkie today and he took it without hesitation. Here are some pics...let me know what you think.

He's very cute! I don't have any Lereh types so I can't show you any pictures. Sorry. I'm assuming you have not sexed him, you're just calling him that? I would avoid handling the very small neonates as their spines are quite delicate and kinking occurs easily. Glad to hear he's an enthusiastic feeder and you might want to prepare for more! They are very addictive

Thanks

Housed separate at night GTPs tend to lash out at any movement and they could harm each other... I wouldn't recommend housing any GTPs together unless of course for mating purposes.

I agree. I have had a male and female together for the last 2 months hoping to get a pairing (they've not so much as sent a text message to each other so far) and feeding time is a challenge. I have to watch them closely...up to the point where they are perched back where they sleep, which can take up to an hour.

Speaking of pairing.....any suggestions on what I can do to get them in the mood? My wife is complaining about the Barry White playing 24/7 and the candles are becoming expensive. I thinking of trying a bubble bath and a massage next......

Switch to Barry Manilow instead of Barry White....did you lower your temps for cycling them? Give them a good misting, or just seperate them for a week or two and see if reintroducing them sparks the love. Maybe they just don't like each other. Sometimes that happens.

I got the temps down to the low/mid 70's at night. I haven't misted more than usual. I'll give that a try.

Try dropping your temps to 68-70 at night. Spray them down and see if that helps. Wait until a low pressure system moves through your area. And keep trying. It's still early.
