Some BOA newbie questions

PhillyBoyInTN Dec 20, 2007 11:21 AM

What is the difference between a sunglow and a moonglow? Also, if you breed Albino 100 het anery X Albino 100 het anery what are your potential offspring and what are your odds of each. Thanks in advance!

A sunglow is albino + hypo, a moonglow is albino + anery + hypo.

To simplify, you can call Albino 100 het anery - Albino het anery.

Albino het anery x Albino het anery is actually quite simple, look at the traits seperately...

Albino X albino = all albino

Het anery X het anery =

1/4 anery
3/4 66% het anery

add the two together and you have...

1/4 snow (albino + anery)
3/4 albino 66% het snow

this is probably a stupid question an albino x anery would give you roughly 1/8 snows? genetics stump me terribly..lol

I believe an albino (that is not het for anery) x anery (that is not het for albino) should give you all het for snow babies that look normal. Then if you breed two het for snows, you'll theoretically get 1/16 snows.

"Het for snow" means the snake is both het for anerythrism and albinism...

"a moonglow is albino anery hypo."

So would this be a Hypo Snow since albino anery = snow?

Exactly right Dave was just breaking down each one by genes since you might be relatively you and didn't want to lose you that a moonglow is a hypo snow. In order for you to reproduce anything albino or anery (which are both recessive) then both genes MUST be carried by both parents. An anery het albino and albino and het anery will also yield 1/4 snows like albino het anery x albino het anery btw. Any further ?'s just post them. Hope it helps
Bob
