Hello! Happy Holidays to all.

Sunshine Dec 20, 2007 07:45 PM

It's been a while since I've posted and I figured it was time to say howdy from Texas. This forum has been hopping and I'm pleased to see that....there were times that I wondered how it stayed afloat. Well, looks like I am hoping a virgin female (the first baby I ever bought and raised) will be up to a nice healthy litter in 08. I have sold or traded 1/2 my BRB's and PRB's in the last year and have not gotten any more (excluding 2 of my 07 babies). My newest snakes are a pair of Corn Island Boas I got this summer from Gus Rentfro. Liking the smaller-type locality boas a little more these days....just because they are so darn easy (not that rainbows are hard, just need lots more cleaning) and that is good for someone who is too busy/tired most the time.

Let's see...I have experienced my first ever litter of a mouse. Kinda cute those little babies. Bought 1 and turned it into 15, not too bad I guess. I now have a snake room devoted to only snake stuff. Should've done that 3 years ago. It's even got a freezer/refigerator exclusively for dead creatures. First thermostat failure happened this year. No deaths or illness thank goodness. BTW that was a 13 month old Herpstat ND. Best new innovation for me is the soldiering (sp?) tool for 9$ to melt holes in containers rather than drilling. Still a crappy photogragher and keeper of too many cats. Same jobs and they are all about animal care-taking.....it's no wonder that I need easy to keep snakes.

I have been frequenting the Forums and have an idea of what's going on here. I love the pics...and want to let you all know that I admire the dedication visible from the contributors....especially the prompt replies for those who have a question about husbandry/health. The post earlier ths week about the so called insults seems undeserving to me. This forum along with the Rainbow Pages (or whatever they were called) have taught me many, many things and offered a listening ear when I needed. If it wasn't for the relationship I have formed with other Rainbow Folk I would not be having half the fun I have keeping snakes. I remember Jeff from the beginning...always a pleasure and I am glad Dave finally joined up. I do not want to exclude anyone....the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

Are you still awake? Sorry for the long non-pic rambling. May each of you have a merry Christmas. Good luck with your upcoming season.

Tim has told me that he doesn't think his animal is a hypo. But, she's a really neat looking light orange snake. At any rate, I suspect Linda's animal might have some really cool genes hiding in its DNA.

I assume you are talking about the female holdback from the yellow mom. She's doing well. She's part of my core group. I don't have current pics, but I'll let you know before I do anything to her. I have 4 red TF's from the previous litter.

Thanks.
Linda

Hey Linda, glad to see you posting. That wouldn't be F7-M5-06 would it? She should be old enough to breed if she ate her meals like a good little girl!!

Yeah, this has turned into a pretty damn good place to hang out. Not sure what bug she had or where it craweled into, we all tried to sooth her ruffled feathers but to no avail. Bottom line, if you're not smiling and having fun (at least some of the time) you're just wasting oxygen!!!

I have sooooo much in the works it's a bit scary. I should easily top 250 babies this coming year and could go as high as 500. More likely then not I'll have over twice as many baby BRB's as I've ever had in one season and a smaller pile of BCI's as well. Have you seen my website? Pretty snazzy if I don't say so myself.

Wishing you and yours not just a wonderful Christmas season but a wonderful year as well!!!

Thanks,

LOL, to many snakes to list, last count:
26.49 BRB
20.21 BCI
And those are only the breeders

lots.lots.lots feeder mice and rats

I don't think she'll be ready til next season. I need to get you pics too. I kinda like going a little slow. She's doing well though.

I haven't checked you site in a while alough I am responsible for a few of those hits :P I'll check it out. Too bad I'm not willing to mix up my Corns or Hogs. You'd be a first choice.

And a very Merry Christmas to you Linda. Its nice to hear from you. I know you've been getting into the hogs and other smaller BCI. If I only had the room.
Have a great New Year,
Paul

Happy Holidays to you as well! And like Bob said, please post some pics.

I'm on Gus' mailing list, since I was strongly considering getting a smaller boa constrictor, specifically a Tarahumara. They appeal to me as well due to the smaller size. And don't worry if it's "off topic", seems like everyone here likes pics of all kinds of different species... even the "pet rocks".

Thanks,
Ed

Corns, some Hogs are cool but I don't care for most, Honduran but I also like in morph form the nic ghost, hypo nic, t albino nic (thanks for the info on that symbol) and sonorans and if you wait until next Dr. Warren Booth is gonna be making some more TRUE anery sonorans as he is making some double true double het sonoran blizzards I think this year. What do you like about the Taha.... lots of saddles? Ever considered a male bci or bcc that would prolly top out at 6 foot in 8 eight years maybe longer on a maintenance diet prolly and still be healthy and only occupying a 4 x 2 space like the indigo cage. If I ever get money to pay Dave off I will have to start saving for next year and would like to pick up one female Suri

I like all snakes. That's why it was such a difficult decision to make as to which species and type of snake I would get. I've had corn and rat snakes in the past. I've also had a common Colombian boa for about 10 years, he was about 6 foot long when I sadly had to "euthanaize" him. He was a great snake, never bit me (well, only once when I startled him.) Like you and Dave were saying, very powerful animals. Yes, the busy pattern on the Tarahumaras appeal to me, but also the smaller size and lower humidity requirements are important. With so many kids running around my house, no need for a 6 foot constrictor right now.

I think Dr. Booth works at NC State, which is very close to me. I'm not nearly as into the morphs as you and many others, but I do think those Leopard boas are really nice. I think a pure Sonoran hypo Leopard might be interesting to produce. I haven't seen any yet, at least in the Kingsnake ads. Maybe I should call him. Did he introduce the anery gene to Sonorans by crossing one with an anery of some other locale or subspecies??

Yeah, you better pay Dave off, or else you'll never get one of those pearls! Good talking to you as always.

Thanks,
Ed

I don't know how Dr. Booth got that anery female sonoran but it is definately 100% sonoran but the leopard is believed to be a mix of two sub species so pure prolly not but they can get a ghost from and also Chris Gilbert (kid knows more than I wish I knew) was talking the other day about how Tom Burkes nic ghosts is the anery type I and not type II which is for the dwarfs IMO and shouldn't be mixed with the uglier big cousin the Colombian They are all beautiful and if you get a female dwarf it may very well reach five plus and more if not pure and males prolly 4 foot or smaller. Yes I need to pay off Dave so I can start saving for next year's snakes cuz before I know it (just paid 2.5k for my car cuz I had water in the motor from the hurricane) custody case is wrapping up in a couple of months and that could only mean money, school tuition for son due before May and of course I'm broke Ed but I really need a het hypo female and hypo male and that would be cool just don't know about that next year money wise but I'm pinching pennies as we speak.
