New Acquisitions!

Ophidiophile Dec 21, 2007 09:20 AM

I've been looking for these guys for well over a decade. Finally got a CB pair from Japan and I'm really excited. Now we'll see how they do...

The top photo is the female (in shed but still looking good) and the bottom is the male.

That's awesome! Those are beautiful little snakes, and I look forward to hearing more about them in the future.

Awesome! Were those the ones for sale in the classifieds here recently?

These did not appear on the Kingsnake classifieds. The ones that did were WC adults. These are CB '07s.

David,

I have also been interested in acquiring some conspiculattus...just not interested enough to get some from Japan. Keep us apparaised to their husbandry and any quirks you find they may have as a species. Im sure we would love to know more about them. Oh, and are you taking a list yet?

David, fantastic. I'm glad you finally got a pair..

Merry Christmas, heheh!

These are very cool little snakes. I'm actually sorry I traded mine for a pair of Mandarins a few years ago.

Regards...Terry

Traded them? Wow!
My pair seem to be doing very well...so far, so good!

Yeah, I know. Not an exact trade though. I got a little extra for them, but kinda wish I had them back now. I'm not keeping the Mandarins anymore either, but the conspics would have fit in better with the rest of my collection. They are awefully pretty snakes to, although they get kinda unicolored as adults.

Sounds great. I know you didn't ask, but I had some success by keeping fairly cool in the summer, and also fairly humid by using a moist hide most of the time.

Have fun and Happy Holidays....

Thanks Terry.
Even though I didn't ask, tips from people who've kept them are always appreciated. Right now I have them each on a paper towel substrate with a hide box filled with moist sphagnum. They spend most of their time in the hide boxes. I have the temp around 75-77 day and 68-72 night. They are taking live pinkies left overnight. So like I said so far, so good!

Sounds great. The main thing is that they are eating. That's nice, considering one rap on them has been that they go off feed for long periods. I didn't find this to be the case, if they are kept fairly cool (your temps look good), and they aren't pushed, or overfed. One thing I would use in the setup is a water container, large enough to soak in, just because it might help with habitat they like. They do tend to be quite secretive burrowers too, which might help with substrate later on.

Best of luck with these. I'm hoping I might be able to get back into working with them again in the future, so I hope you get them to breed eventually.

Terry
