Need some real help here!!!!

Lamiellm Dec 21, 2007 08:05 PM

Ok guys I need some help here!! I got about a 3 month old spider girl. Supposidly she has eaten three times prior to me getting her. I dont think that was the case at all. She is on aspen. Room temp about 84 rear about 90. She has a hide box. In an AP rack. I've tried live fuzzy, f/t fuzzy, split head, and even tried to assist feed her. Still no luck...Any clues or tips anyone can think of??? Im lost on this one.

try placing the spider in a brown paper bag over night with a f/t fuzzy

Should I just staple the bag shut? Anything else in there? Just the fuzzy and him?

That is my favorite trick, but I use a live rat fuzzy because it poses no danger to the snake. I use a lunch bag sized bag with the top rolled down and then put it in a rubbermaid or sterilite box with the lid on it and put it in the bottom of a dark closet. If yo put a lid on the plastic box, if the snake gets out of the bag it can't get out of the box.

She may be very stressed? Have you given her some time to recover from assist feeding? Sometimes a troubled feeder will do better if left alone for a week. Give her a hide and dont bother her for a week mimimum. Hope she feeds for you!

and when all else fails, give her a gerbil. Just make sure you have tried everything else first. If she gets a gerbil, she may decide its all she'll eat, and then its a royal pain trying to switch them back to mice or rats.

I have a 450g female that will only eat f/t from a paper bag. But I don't have to close her in, she will wonder in and eat by her self. I just leave the open bag in her tub.

She is a real shy and has never taken f/t from tongs. It took a month for her to eat when I first got her.

Good luck with you baby...
